Jaime Hunter

Co-Founder & Executive Director

Jaime L. Hunter, M.S. Ed. Is an ESL teacher with 20 years of experience working with students ranging from preschool to adult, from the university level to the Montessori school system, and from preliterate students to advanced level learners. She received her master’s in TESOL and Educational Linguistics from UPENN and holds dual undergraduate degrees in English and Spanish from Temple University. She studied abroad with Semester at Sea and at the Universidad de Oviedo in Spain. Formally Director of Operations at the Barrio Planta Project in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, Jaime has instructed at the Polytechnic University in Rivas, Nicaragua, the Biblioteca Movil, the Casa de la Mujer in San Juan del Sur and currently Keiser University in San Marcos, Nicaragua as a teacher trainer.  She is fluent in Spanish and English. Jaime is also a mother of two daughters.

Carrie Valladares

Co-Founder & President

Carrie Valladares, Board President, is a Senior Attorney at Microsoft Corporation, where she practices intellectual property and contract law. She is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, and the former President of Northwest Immigrant Rights Foundation. She has lived, worked and studied in France, UK, Israel and El Salvador, and is fluent in French, Spanish and English. Monica Jaens

Director of Operations

Monica Jaens has taught ESL (English as a second language) for over 14 years in Managua and San Juan del Sur. A graduate of UCA University in Managua with a degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. She joined Escuela Adelante team in 2016 and has worked in different areas and with different age groups. She loves languages, working with kids, and learning from them.

Director of Academics

Isamar Delgado Tijerino is a passionate educator who has been working in the field since 2013. She has always been interested in how schools can best serve their students, and that passion led her to pursue a Master’s degree in School Development at Universidad Catolica de Nicaragua. With a Master’s degree in School Development, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as a teacher and now as academic director of Escuela Adelante. After completing her degree with emphasis in ESL, Isamar began teaching and quickly developed a reputation as a skilled and dedicated educator. Isa works closely with teachers to help them improve their instructional practices and achieve their goals. She provides feedback and support, shares best practices, and helps teachers develop the skills and knowledge they need to be effective educators. She is committed to creating a positive and engaging learning environment for students and teachers at the school and works tirelessly to help them reach their full potential. Isamar is a firm believer in the power of education to change lives, and she is committed to making a difference in the lives of her students and the wider community.

Neysi Rodriguez

Growing Adelante Program Director

Neysi Rodríguez is originally from Matagalpa,  in the north of Nicaragua.  She holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from university in Costa Rica, and has broad experience growing sustainable garden projects for large scale projects throughout Nicaragua.  She has expertise in ornamentals, food production, and animal husbandry.  She is excited to bring her gifts to Escuela Adelante and share them with our community.  Neysi has a 9 year old son called Juan Diego, and enjoys reading and binging TV series in her free time,
