Jaime L. Hunter, M.S. Ed. Is an ESL teacher with 20 years of experience working with students ranging from preschool to adult, from the university level to the Montessori school system, and from preliterate students to advanced level learners. She received her master’s in TESOL and Educational Linguistics from UPENN and holds dual undergraduate degrees in English and Spanish from Temple University. She studied abroad with Semester at Sea and at the Universidad de Oviedo in Spain. Formally Director of Operations at the Barrio Planta Project in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, Jaime has instructed at the Polytechnic University in Rivas, Nicaragua, the Biblioteca Movil, the Casa de la Mujer in San Juan del Sur and currently Keiser University in San Marcos, Nicaragua as a teacher trainer. She is fluent in Spanish and English. Jaime is also a mother of two daughters.

Carrie Valladares, Board President, is a Senior Attorney at Microsoft Corporation, where she practices intellectual property and contract law. She is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, and the former President of Northwest Immigrant Rights Foundation. She has lived, worked and studied in France, UK, Israel and El Salvador, and is fluent in French, Spanish and English. Monica Jaens has taught ESL (English as a second language) for over 14 years in Managua and San Juan del Sur. A graduate of UCA University in Managua with a degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. She joined Escuela Adelante team in 2016 and has worked in different areas and with different age groups. She loves languages, working with kids, and learning from them.

Growing Adelante Program Director
Enrique is originally from Granada. He holds an MBA from the National University in San Diego California and has taught Business Administration in Costa Rica and Nicaragua for over 35 years. He is fluent in English and Spanish. He is pleased to be contributing to the development of the Growing Adelante food production and productive infrastructure project. This is a unique opportunity to integrate Growing Adelante fully into the curriculum, with age-appropriate projects.
